The Tinted Face Balm Mariska Hargitay’s Makeup Artist Loves for Mature Skin

Through all 12 of Mariska Hargitay’s outfit (and wig) changes at last night’s Emmy Awards—yes, you read that right—one thing stayed exactly the same: her radiant, second-skin makeup. The artist behind the look, celebrity makeup artist Kate Synnott, walked NewBeauty through her full prep routine and the products that got Hargitay red-carpet ready.

Synnott wanted Hargitay’s skin to feel “really hydrated and beautifully plumped” before any makeup touched her face. She started with Cetaphil Nourishing Oil to Foam Cleanser ($9), followed by Cetaphil Skin Activator Hydrating & Firming Lotion ($12) “from head to toe, paying special attention to the neck, shoulders, arms and décolletage.”

The Lineup

To fill in sparse brows, she used Brow Power ($26), then built drama at the eyes by layering Superhero No-Tug Shadow Sticks ($25) in Copper Charisma and Fearless Umber, “blending them out for a warm, hazy smoky effect.” Superhero Liner ($25) extended the shape into a “sleek feline wing,” finished with Superhero Volumizing & Lengthening Mascara ($28) for volume and length.

“With the eyes taking center stage, I chose a softer lip, using Do It All Lip Transformer ($29) in Pretty in Rose to gently enhance Mariska’s natural lip shape and create a fuller-looking, polished finish.”
